If you have decided to buy a house or even settle in Ariège (what a good choice).
You will find here both a quality of life (it's sunny, and also offers you an excetionnal choice of offordable ski resorts, the proximity of Spain an Andorra allows you to explore others european ways of life), the département has a population of aproximatly 150 000 people, there is a lovely country way of life, but at rhe same time new industries (for instance aeronautics) a developping touristic business, and many other services.
The French government is neverthless very keen to facilitate the life of foreigners specially ffrom the EU : on this idea we tried to evaluate as informaly as possible the needs of the foreign community and, especially for the English speaking ones. Throughout July we appoached fifteen English-speaking people from Britain, Australia and the Netherlands who have choosen to move to Ariège. Some of them were young, had children and intended to set up a business whereas others were retired and came in Ariège to find peace and quiet, some of them have been living here for years, whereas others have just settled. Whatever the age, the situation or the country they come from, they all met some difficulties.
Even though they found people very helpful they lacked practical information about life in Ariège (where have they to go ? Who have they to contact ? Who can help them ? What papers do they need ?). They all met different problems but we tried to answer to most of their questions and we hope this information will help people arriving in Ariège to avoid all these difficulties.
The result of this approach is this recommandation book which will give this practical information to help you carry through administrative approaches to a successfull conclusion.
